الكتاب عبارة عن مجموعة قصصية يضم الديوان 163 قصيدة كلها جمال وألق، تتعدد مواضيعها وتتشعب عناوينها، نذكر منها على سبيل المثال لا الاستقصاء، نبض رسائلي، صراخ الثمار، خوذة الشهيد، عزف على وتر الغياب، مواسم الرعشة، حجم النكبات.جاء في نص "ثقوب في نعش الأرض" الذي اتخده الربيعي عنوانا لديوانه الثالث "منْ أنا وسط هذا الركام، يعتريني الخوف ويصاحبني بوم أخرس، تلك الوجوه ماعادت تُطالع نبضي، خائرة حدّ الدهشةفصولنا، أقدام الفرح لم تكن مستيقظةً، تجري صوب الفجر وترتدي الظلمة، آه ماأقسى أن يكون مركبنا بهذهِ الثقوب، خلعناأفخاذنا كي تنجو الأماني، لكن حين أعلنالوصول، وجدنا مشانقَ ورصاصاتٍ، ومقبرًة ضيوفها الغرباء، أكتبُ لهذا القادمنحوي، أحبه كثيرا حين يملأ الشوارع، طليق اليدين، يهمسُ في جسدي، غير أنني أحشومساحتي شوكاً، وذراعي وسادة فمهاالدُخان، الحناجر التي أفزعت مسرحالليل، داهمها حراس الحانات، أوثقوامزاميرها، واغتصبوا نداءات اللحن، ماكنت أعلم، أن وجهي بهذهِ البشاعة، مُلقى على الجدارِ، يستغيث بالنهرِوالسنبلة، بحثتُ عنكِ دون خلاص، سألت الأزقة المحتضرة، صحف الصباح ورائحة الأسرة، لا شيء، إلّا شرفات يرافقها العويل، وبصيص أمل أستقر فيحوصلة الغراب، بحثتُ وبحثت، عن عتبتي السمراء، فلم أجد إلّا منازل لاتعرف الشفقة، ربما القادم سيكون مقعداًمن انتظار، ودفء أصابع تتسلقالمُنحدرات، لنلتقي نهاية أرائنا المختلفة .
