لم يكن بيت العثمانلي مجرد بيت من حجارة و عَمَد وسقف، ولم يكن داود جوهار، حين بدأ في تشييده عام 1750 ، يدري أنه يضع حجر أساس لأسطورة و تاريخ طويل لا يحصيه كتاب ضخم، فضلا عن رواية قليلة الأوراق كتلك التي بين أيديكم. مرت العقود وما زال البيت شاهد عيان على تَغَيُّر الأيام وتقلبات الدهر. كنوز من الأسرار لم يفصح البيت إلا عن النذر اليسير منها، وكأنه استمرأ الغموض واطمئن لتلك الغلالة الأسطورية التي اِلْتَحَفَ بها فزادته بهاءً وجلال.
