ظلت المصادر والمراجع المتعلقة بأغطية الرؤوس حبيسة النصوص الأدبية وغير الأدبية وفى تصاوير المخطوطات وعلى التحف التطبيقية، بالإضافة إلى بقايا من تلك الأغطية تضمها المتاحف فى أماكن عديدة حول العالم بالإضافة إلى شواهد القبورالتى تعد من أغنى المصادر في تركيا ومصر التى تؤرخ لمراحل تطورها بعد أن أهمل المؤرخون والباحثون دراستها لأسباب تتعلق بالنظرة المحدودة لطبيعة الموضوع فضلاً عن الرهبة من الإقدام على تناول موضوع لا يوجد فى الأرشيف البحثى عنه سوى شذرات أفكار متناثرة بين ثنايا النصوص الأدبية والدينية. وهذه محاولة من المؤلفة لرصد مراحل التطور الذى صاحب أحد أجزاء الزى فى العصر الإسلامى من خلال تتبعه على التصاوير الإسلامية العثمانية وعلى التحف التطبيقية وشواهد القبور والرجوع بتلك الأشكال إلى أصولها فى التصاوير والتحف الإسلامية الأسبق مما يمثل انعكاساً لروح المجتمع العربى والإسلامى على مر السنين، ويشكل مدخلاً بينياً موازياً يسهم في فهم تاريخ اللباس العربى والإسلامى عبر العصور
