عبد المتعال الصعيدي (1313 - 1391 هـ = 1894 - 1971 م)
عالم إصلاحي من شيوخ الأزهر بمصر. ولد في قرية «كفر النجبا» من الدقهلية. ومات أبوه وهو ابن شهر فربته أمه. وتخرج بالجامع الأحمدي (1336) ودرس فيه، ثم كان أستاذا بكلية اللغة العربية بالأزهر (1368) وألف كتبا كثيرة طبعت كلها، منها «نقد نظام التعليم الحديث للأزهر» و «العلم والعلماء ونظام التعليم» و «تاريخ الجماعة الأولى للشبان المسلمين» و «في ميدان الاجتهاد» و «والوسيط في تاريخ الفلسفة الإسلامية» و «المجتهدون في الإسلام» و «تاريخ الإصلاح في الأزهر» و «أبو العتاهية الشاعر» و «القرآن والحكم الاستعماري» و «القضايا الكبري في الإسلام» و «تجديد علم المنطق» و «بغية الإيضاح لتلخيص المفتاح» أربعة أجزاء، و «الكميت بن زيد» و «شباب قريش في العهد السري للإسلام» و «الميراث في الشريعة الاسلامية والشرائع السماوية» و «لماذا أنا مسلم» و «النحو الجديد» و «السياسة الإسلامية في عهد النبوة» و «النظم الفني في القرآن»
توفي في 11 من محرم 1391هـ = 8 من مارس 1971م
