أصله من قزوين، ومولده بالموصل.
ولي القضاء في ناحية بالروم، ثم قضاء دمشق سنة 724 هـ، فقضاء القضاة بمصر (سنة 727) ونفاه السلطان الملك الناصر إلى دمشق سنة 738 ثم ولاه القضاء بها، فاستمر إلى أن توفي.
من كتبه (تلخيص المفتاح - ط) في المعاني والبيان، و (الإيضاح - ط) في شرح التلخيص، و (السور المرجاني من شعر الإرجاني).
وكان حلو العبارة، أديبا بالعربية والتركية والفارسية، سمحا، كثير الفضائل

Book Description
مصنف هذا الكتاب هو "محمد بن عبد الرحمن بن عمر أبو المعالي جلال الدين القزويني الشافعي" المعروف "بخطيب دمشق". ولد سنة 661هـ، الموافق في سنة 1268م. كان حلو العبارة، أديباً بالعربية والتركية والفارسية، سمحاً كثير الفضائل أصله من قزوين ومولده بالموصل. ولى القضاء من ناحية الروم، ثم قضاء دمشق سنة 724هـ، وقضاء القضاة بمصر سنة 727هـ. ونفاه السلطان الملك الناصر إلى دمشق سنة 738هـ، ثم ولاه القضاء بها فاستمر إلى أن توفي سنة 739هـ.
مخلفاً وراءه عدداً من المصنفات الهامة منها كتاب الإيضاح والذي هو عبارة عن كتاب اختصر فيه الخطيب القزويني كتابه مختصر تلخيص المفتاح، والذي جاء في علوم البلاغة وتوابعها. وفيه بسط القزويني القول ليكون كالشرح، فأوضح مواضعه المشكلة وفصل معانيه المجملة، وعمد إلى ما خلا عنه المختصر مما تضمنه مفتاح العلوم وإلى ما خلا عنه المفتاح من كلام الشيخ عبد القادر الجرماني في كتابيه دلائل الإعجاز وأسرار البلاغة وإلى ما تيسر النظر فيه من كلام غيرهما، فاستخرج زبدة ذلك كله وهذبها ورتبها حتى استقر كل شيء منها في محله وأضاف إلى ذلك ما أدى إليه فكرة ولم يجده في غيره.
