قصّة طريفة.. فقد اتّصلت بي الدكتورة حكيمة تطلب منّي أنْ أقترح عليها موضوعًا لبحث الدّكتوراه ف ي مجال اختصاصها؛ وهو الأدب العربي، فبعثتُ إليها بحثًا كتبتُه بعنوان "الأدب العربي الحديث في كتابات المسْتشرقين" وبعد مدّة وجيزة تلقّيت رسالةً أخرى تقول إنها اختارت موضوعًا وتمّت الموافقة عليه من القسم والكلية, وهو هذا الكتاب. وهنا كتبت إليها متعجّبًا.. هل يُعقل أن يوافقَ القسمُ والكلية على هذا الموضوع؟ فأقسمت أنّها صادقة, وزيادةً بعثتِ الأوراقَ مختومةً بالأختام الرسمية. وشرعتِ الدكتورة حكيمة في بحثها, وقد عرفتُ أنّها من الطلبة المتميّزين المتفوّقين في كليّتها, فأنجزتْه في وقتٍ قصير وبما أنّي موضوعُ الكتاب؛ فلن أقول شيئًا سوى أنْ أحْمَدِ الله- عزّ وجلّ- أن جعلَ أوّل خرّيج لقسم الاسْتشراق بالدكتوراه موضوع رسالة دكتوراه, وبعيدًا عنّي فقد بذلت الدّكتورة حكيمة جهدًا كبيرًا في استقصاء من نقد الاستشراق؛ فأجادت وأفادت. وها هو الكتاب بين أيديكم
