توقف الأحمدي المتخصص في العلوم السياسية والعلاقات الدولية، في البداية عند اليمن: الجغرافيا بكونها هندسة سماوية من صنع الإله، والتاريخ بصفته هندسة إنسانية من صنع البشر، بما له وما عليه، كنشاط إنساني ممتد عبر حياة الناس، ولا يزال. وفي الفصل الثاني تناول مجموعة الدول المطلة عليه، بتداخلاتها الجغرافية والتاريخية؛ بموانئها وجزرها وخلجانها ومضائقها، وما تمثله هذه المنظومة البحرية من أهمية في سياستها الاقتصادية؛ بل سياستها العامة. وفي الفصل الثالث تطرق للصراع التاريخي والنشاط البشري الذي دار على هذه الجغرافيا منذ التاريخ القديم وإلى اليوم، وطبيعة هذا الصراع الذي أخذ أكثر من وجه وأكثر من سبب، تبعًا لطبيعة المتصارعين أنفسهم، إلا أنه لم يغادر الهدف الاقتصادي أو السياسي أو الديني، والأخير أقل، سواء في الماضي أو الحاضر، علما أن الاقتصاد قد تداخل كثيرا مع السياسة، وصار كلٌ منهما يؤثر في الآخر، وهو صراع دولي قديم/ جديد إلى جانب الصراع المحلي، نظرا لأهمية البحر الأحمر والقرن الأفريقي. التركيز أكثر على المملكة العربية السعودية الشقيقة وجمهورية مصر العربية فيما يتعلق بأمن البحر الأحمر؛ كون المصلحة واحدة والضرر الحاصل أيضًا واحد على الجميع
