رأيت أن الأنبياء والرسل فى جميع الأديان الكبرى يتميزون بأن رؤاهم للحقيقة المتعالية القصوى تتشابه فيما بينها كبيرا، ومهما يكن التفسير الذى نختاره لهذا التجربة الإنسانية، فهى حقيقة لا يمكن إنكارها، وقد ينكر البوذيون أن هذه الرؤية تتجاوز الطبيعة إلى عالم الخوارق، قائلين إنها حالة ذهنية طبيعية لدى الإنسان، ولكن أديان التوحيد تطلق على هذه الحقيقة المتعالية اسم "الله". وأعتقد أن محمداً مر بهذه التجربة وساهم مساهمة متميزة وقيمة فى التجربة الروحية للإنسانية. فإذا كنا نبغى أن ننصف جيراننا المسلمين، فيجب أن نقدر هذه الحقيقة الأساسية حق قدرها، وهذا هو السبب الذى دعانى إلى كتابة هذا الكتاب.....
