هذا الكتاب عباره عن مسند أبي يعلي تمّ إخراجه بهذه الطبعة المحققة.حيث أغنى المحقق بالتقديم للمسند بنبذة جاءت بمثابة ترجمة للمؤلف، تحدث فيها عن سيرته، كنيته، مولوده، شيوخه، تلاميذه، أقوال العلماء فيه وأخيراً آثاره من ثم قام بالتحقق من صحة نسبه كتاب المسند للإمام أبي يعلي الموصلي، بعد ذلك تتبع مرحلة كتابة المصنفات الحديثة في عصر الإمام الموصلي (أتباع التابعين)، من ثم توقف عند مرحلة تصنيف المسانيد والمصنفات وأهم مؤلفيها، وختم الكتاب بفهرسين الأول للأحاديث والثاني للمحتويات.
