بعد أن تلاقت معظم فروع العلوم الإنسانية مع بعضها البعض وتداخلت بعض المفاهيم مع البعض الآخر. الأمر الذى يقتضى ضرورة معرفة الفروق اللغوية والعلمية فيما بينها. أمام هذه الاعتبارات التى تزداد قيمتها للباحث، رأينا أن نقدم هذا المعجم. وقد اعتمدنا في تحديد دلالة المفهوم أو المصطلح على الإيجاز، الأمر الذى جعلنا نكتفى بذكر المراجع فى نهاية المعجم لا فى ثنايا النصوص الخاصة بتعريف المصطلح. وقد تضمن هذا التعريف أصل الكلمة الفرنسية والإنجليزية يقابلها المعنى الموافق أو المقارب لمعناها بالعربية. هذا العمل محاولة لإلقاء الضوء على مدلول أهم المصطلحات الجديدة في العلوم الإنسانية المعاصرالتى نقلت من اللغى الأوروبية غلى الثقافة العربية فى عقدى الثمانينيات والتسعينيات دون أن تحدد دلالة أغلبها فى بنية اللغة والثقافة العربية.
