تعنى الأكاديمة العُمانية الكاتبة عائشة الدرمكي في كتابها الفكري الصادر حديثًا “سيمياء.. مقالات في الثقافة وعلاماتها” بـ”محاولات تأويل الثقافة وعلاماتها بدءا من الإنسان (العلامة) وعلاقته بجسده وذاته، أو تلك العلامات الدالة على الحواس والأهواء؛ تلك العلامات التي ينتجها بصريًّا أو حسّيًّا”. ويجمع الكتاب بين دفتيه مجموعة من المقالات التي نُشرت سابقا ضمن صفحة (سيمياء) في مجلة (تراث) الصادرة عن نادي تراث الإمارات في أبوظبي ما بين الأعوام (2014-2020). وترى الكاتبة كذلك أن كتابها هذا يقدم “تنويعات عن تلك العلامات التي نحيا بها، ونصنعها، ونحمِّلها ما تطيق وما لا تطيق من دلالات. إنها نحن وفكرنا وإبداعنا”.
