ولنفهم أكثر يجب أن نعرف سبب نزول الآية الكريمة، فلقد نزلت يوم كان عرس الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم ب (زينب بنت جحش) وكان الصحابة مجتمعين عند رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، فلما فرغوا من الطعام جلسوا يتحدثون وكانت زوجة الرسول بالبيت وكلما هم الرسول ليقوم وجدهم أو بعضهم على حالهم ولا يقومون فكان هذا يؤذى النبى، فهو يغار على زوجته.. ولكنه أشد الناس حياء فاستحى أن يخبر الصحابة بذلك أو يطلب منهم الرحيل.
