يتمركز البحث حول استخراج الاستنباطات العقدية عند الشيعة الإثني عشرية من خلال مجمع البيان للطبرسي، حيث يتم الوقوف على المجهود الذي بذله الطبرسي في استخراج الأحكام العقدية، ثم الوقوف منها على التي وافقت المذهب الإثني عشري، أو التي وافقت المذهب الاعتزالي وانتصرت لهما، ثم بيان الموقف المخالف معززا بالأدلة والبراهين التي تدل على صحة أو بطلان المعنى العقدي المستنبط، وذلك بتأطيره وتصنيفه من حيث الموضوع ضمن سياقه الخلافي، ثم تأصيله بنسبته إلى أولية القول في المذهب الاعتقادي. وذلك قصد الوقوف على أصول ومناهج الاستنباط عند الشيعة الاثني عشرة، والكشف عن منهج الطبرسي في الاستنباط مع بيان الأصول والقواعد التي أسس عليها اجتهاداته من خلال كتابه مجمع البيان في تفسير القرآن .
