الدكتور بهاء الدين مكاوي أستاذ مشارك بقسم الشؤون الدولية بجامعة قطر. حصل على الدكتوراه في العلوم السياسية في عام 2002 عن أثر الصراعات الإثنية على الاستقرار السياسي. بدأ حياته الأكاديمية محاضراً بقسم العلوم السياسية، جامعة النيلين بالسودان (1995-2002)، ثم أستاذاً مساعداً (2002-2009)، ثم أستاذاً مشاركاً في العام 2009. شغل منصب رئيس قسم العلوم السياسية بالجامعة نفسها (2000-2009)، ثم عميداً لكلية التجارة والدراسات الاقتصادية والاجتماعية (2009-2001). التحق بجامعة العلوم التطبيقية بمملكة البحرين في العام 2011، حيث عمل رئيساً لقسم العلوم السياسية (2011-2019)، وبعدها انتقل إلى جامعة قطر قسم الشؤون الدولية في العام 2019.
خلال مسيرته العلمية والعملية عمل مستشاراً اكاديمياً ومديراً لإدارة البحوث والدراسات بمركز دراسات المجتمع (حاصل على الصفة الاستشارية للمجلس الاقتصادي الاجتماعي التابع للأمم المتحدة (ECOSOC)، ومديراً للبحوث بالمركز العالمي للدراسات الافريقية، كما شغل منصب مدير الدراسات والبحوث بمركز التنوير المعرفي.
أشرف الدكتور مكاوي على عدد كبير من أطروحات الماجستير والدكتوراه، ونشر أكثر من 30 بحثاً علمياً في مجلات عالمية وإقليمية محكمة، وألف 11 كتاباً في مجال العلوم السياسية والعلاقات الدولية، اعتمد بعضها كتباً مرجعية (Textbooks) في بعض الجامعات العربية. تنصب اهتمامات الدكتور بهاء الدين البحثية في مجالات التنمية السياسية وقضايا التنوع الثقافي والاثني.
Dr. Bahaeldin Makkawi is an Associate Professor in the Department of International Affairs at Qatar University. He earned his Ph.D. in Political Science in 2002 on the impact of ethnic conflicts on political stability. He began his academic career as a lecturer in the Department of Political Science at Al-Neelain University (1995-2002), then as an Assistant Professor (2002-2009), and later as an Associate Professor in 2009. He served as the head of the Political Science Department at the same university (2000-2009), then as the Dean of the College of Commerce, Economic, and Social Studies (2009-2011).
He joined the University of Applied Sciences in Bahrain in 2011, where he served as the head of the Political Science Department (2011-2019), before moving to Qatar University's Department of International Affairs in 2019.
Throughout his academic and professional career, Dr. Makkawi has worked as an academic advisor and director of research and studies at the Center for Social Studies. He served as the research director at Center for Society Studies (The center holds consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). He also served as the research director at the International Center for African Studies, as well as the director of studies and research at the Enlightenment Center for Knowledge.
Dr. Makkawi has published over 30 scientific research papers in international and regional refereed journals. He has authored 11 books in the fields of political science and international relations, some of which are used as textbooks in some Arab universities. His research interests focus on political development, cultural diversity, and ethnic issues.
Book Description
يسعدني أن أقدم كتاب ( المدخل إلى العلوم السياسية ) إلى طلبة قسم العلوم السياسية بجامعة العلوم التطبيقية – مملكة البحرين ، وإلى طلبة العلوم السياسية في كل أرجاء العالم العربي . ولقد سعيت – بقدر الامكان- إلى أن يتضمن الكتاب كل الموضوعات التي يجب على الطالب المبتدئ في دراسة العلوم السياسية الالمام بها. وقد يجد في هذا الكتاب بعض من غير المتخصصين في مجال العلوم السياسية ما يساعدهم على فهم واستيعاب الواقع السياسي الذي يعيشون فيه ، سواء كان ذلك على مستوى السياسات الداخلية أو الخارجية .
تم تقسيم الكتاب إلى مقدمة وخمسة فصول ، حيث تناول الفصل الأول – وهو فصل تمهيدي- مفهوم السياسة لغة واصطلاحاً ، كما تعرض لتعريف علم السياسة ، ومجالاته ، والمناهج المستخدمة في دراسته ، فضلاً عن العلاقة بينه وبين العلوم الأخرى .
أما الفصل الثاني ، والذي جاء بعنوان الفكر السياسي والنظرية السياسية ، فقد تناول الملامح العامة للفكر السياسي ، والظروف التي نشأ فيها ، وأهم المفكرين والفلاسفة الذين أسهموا اسهاماً واضحاً في الفكر السياسي ، حيث توقف المؤلف في هذا الفصل عند الفكر السياسي اليوناني ، والفكر السياسي الروماني ، والفكر السياسي المسيحي في العصور الوسطي ، وفي عصر النهضة والاصلاح الديني ، والفكر السياسي عند المسلمين ، فضلا عن تعرضه لأهم الأفكار والمفكرين في العصر الحديث والمعاصر . بالاضافة إلى ذلك تناول الفصل مفهوم القومية والدولة القومية فضلاً عن نظريات نشأة الدولة ووظائف الدولة .
تناول الفصل الثالث موضوع النظم السياسية حيث تم شرح مفهوم النظام السياسي ، ومفهوم وأنواع الدساتير ، والسلطات العامة وعلاقاتها ببعضها البعض ، ومفهوم السيادة ، وأنواع الدول ، وأشكال الحكومات .
أما الفصل الرابع فقد تناول قضايا الاجتماع السياسي مثل : علاقة الدولة بالمجتمع ،ومفهوم التنشئة السياسية ،والثقافة السياسية ، ومفهوم الحزب السياسي وأنواع الأحزاب السياسية ، وجماعات الضغط والمصلحة ، والرأي العام .
وتناول الفصل الأخير العلاقات الدولية : مفهومها ومناهج البحث فيها ، و مفهوم المصلحة الوطنية ، وعناصر قوة الدولة ، ومفهوم السياسة الخارجية ، وطرق ووسائل تنفيذها ، ومراحل تطور النظام الدولى ، والمنظمات الدولية ، بالاضافة إلى مفهوم العلاقات الدولية في فكر المسلمين .
كذلك يشتمل الكتاب على بعض المصطلحات ذات العلاقة بدراسة العلوم السياسية ومقابل هذه المصطلحات باللغة الانجليزية بهدف مساعدة الطالب في الاطلاع على بعض المصادر باللغة الانجليزية .
