يبذل المعلم أقصى جهده لإيصال المعلومات إلى تلاميذه، ويسعى دائماً إلى تثبيتها في أذهانهم عن طريق إستخدام الوسائل الحسية المختلفة تارة، وإجراء التجارب العملية تارة أخرى، لتوضيح الغامض من دقائق المعلومات التي تلقى على التلاميذ تمشياً مع واقعهم الحسي الذي يجتازه المعلم بأبنائه الأطفال شيئاً فشيئاً حتى يصل بهم إلى المجردات.
ولا يخفى على أحد ما للوسائل الحسية والتجارب العملية من أثر فعال في نفوس الأطفال وتفكيرهم أثناء الدرس، فهم يرون ويسمعون ويلمسون وعن طريق حواسهم يطلعون على العالم الخارجي ويتعلمون، وعن طريق إشراك الحواس يدركون ويفهمون، فيؤدي ذلك إلى تثبيت المعلومات وفهمها جيداً بصورة لا لبس فيها ولا غموض، ودور المعلم هو إعداد الأطفال لكي يتعلموا ويتفاعلوا بإبتكار مع بيئتهم، ويمكنهم من أن يروا الجمال والنظام في الطبيعة.
وكثيراً ما يحتاج المعلم أثناء تدريسه إلى بعض الوسائل المعينة فلا تتوفر بين يديه أحياناً فيلجأ إلى السبورة مستخدماً الرسم عليها لإيضاح بعض الأمور، كما أنه كثيراً ما يروي على التلاميذ بعض القصص الهادفة، أو يسرد بعض المعارك التاريخية والأحداث الوطنية، ويوضحها للتلاميذ يرسم مشاهد منها وذلك بغية تغريب المعلومات من أذهانهم وتثبيتها في ذاكرتهم.
ومن هنا، يتبين ما المادة الرسم من أهمية لكل من المعلم والتلميذ، إذ بواسطته يذلل المعلم الكثير من الصعوبات التي قد تعترض سبيله، والرسم وسيلة من أهم الوسائل التربوية التعليمية التي تمكن المعلم من أداء رسالته على أكمل وجه.
