ينقسم هذا العمل إلى قسمين، الأول: الدراسة، وفيها كلامٌ على المؤلف، نسبه وكنيته ولقبه وشيوخه وتلاميذه ومكانته العلمية وآثاره ما وصل منها وما لم يصل، وعلى شروح المعلقات، وعلى المخطوطة التي بين أيدينا خاصة، ووقفة عند منهج ابن كيسان في الشرح تتناول أهمَّ ظواهره وخواصَّه، وبيانٌ لعملي في التحقيق والرموز أو الإختصارات المستخدمة فيه، ونموذج مصوَّر من المخطوطة، والثاني: النَّص وملحقه، ويشمل تحقيق القطعة التي أشرنا إليها، والمستدرك الذي جمعت فيه ما روت المصادر عن ابن كيسان في شرح القصيدتين، مما أخلت به النسخة المخطوطة.
