يتناول هذا البحث دراسة حياة وأدب "إبراهيم هاشم فلالي" أحد أعلام الأدب والفكر في المملكة العربية السعودية، في النصف الثاني من القرن الرابع عشر الهجري، وهذا أول بحث علمي يبحث في حياة وأدب هذا الأديب، ولعلّ فيه ما وفيما سبقه من بحوث معدودة عنيت بدراسة سير وآثار أدباء هذه البلاد ما يشبع طلاب الدراسات العليا على هذا الاتجاه.
يبين هذا البحث أن إبراهيم فلالي أديب كبير كثير الإنتاج، متعدد العطاءات، فقد كتب في كثير من فنون الشعر وألوان النثر. ففي فن الشعر كتب القصيدة ذات الوزن والقافية، وأجاز لنفسه الإكثار من الألفاظ الحديثة، والتراكيب المعاصرة، وهذا دليل على شمولية هذا الأديب وقدرته على مسايرة أمثاله من الأدباء في البلدان العربية في هذه المرحلة. كما أثبت هذا البحث أن إبراهيم هاشم فلالي من الملتزمين بالتجديد المحافظ بالرغم من معاصرته لدعوات التجديد التي نظمت تشكيل القصيدة الحديثة... هذا بشكل عام بعض ما سعت إلى إثباته هذه الدراسة الشاملة لحياة وآثار هذا الأديب السعودي، وبصورة عامة يشتمل هذا البحث على مقدمة وثلاثة أبواب تشتمل على عشرة فصول وخاتمة.
ذكر الباحث في المقدمة الدوافع والأسباب التي شجعته على اختيار هذا الموضوع. وخصص الباب الأول للحديث عن بيئة الأديب وحياته. وخصص الباب الثاني لدراسة شعره (مكونات شاعريته، آثاره الشعرية المطبوعة والمخطوطة، مصادر شعره وتوثيقه، أغراض شعره، الخصائص الفنية لشعره). أما الباب الثالث فخصصه لدراسة إنتاج "فلالي" النثري. وذكر في الخاتمة منزلته الأدبية وأهم النتائج التي توصل إليها في بحثه.
