ولد في قرية (رويست العجل) على الساحل السوري، والتي تبعد عن مدينة جبلي حوالي ثلث ساعة أو ربع ساعة. حصل على شهادة في اللغة العربية من جامعة دمشق ثم اتسع ولعه ذاك ليشمل الفنون الكبرى للغة الشعر والنقد والترجمة. كان مولعا بالشاعر الفرنسي شارل بودلير وبديوانه الشهير أزهار الشر ومن أجله شد الرحال إلى فرنسا وأقام ودرس في عاصمتها على حساب أبيه حتى حصل على الدكتوراه، والتي عاش متنقل شاعر سوري مقيم باليابان
ولد في قرية (رويست العجل) على الساحل السوري، والتي تبعد عن مدينة جبلي حوالي ثلث ساعة أو ربع ساعة. حصل على شهادة في اللغة العربية من جامعة دمشق ثم اتسع ولعه ذاك ليشمل الفنون الكبرى للغة الشعر والنقد والترجمة. كان مولعا بالشاعر الفرنسي شارل بودلير وبديوانه الشهير أزهار الشر ومن أجله شد الرحال إلى فرنسا وأقام ودرس في عاصمتها على حساب أبيه حتى حصل على الدكتوراه، والتي عاش متنقلا بعدها بين باريس والجزائر شاعرا بوهيميا تارة ومدرسا جامعيا تارة أخرى. ذهب إلى اليابان سنة 1990 كأستاذ لتدريس اللغة العربية لطلاب جامعة طوكيو للدراسات الأجنبية، وقد استقر به المقام هناك واستقر بها.

مجموعة شعرية منتقاة، وتجارب شعرية تبوح عنها تلك المقطوعات التي زخر بها هذا الكتاب. وهي لمجموعة شعراء كان موئلهم شبه الجزيرة العربية على امتدادها. لكل من هؤلاء زاويته الخاصة مهما كانت صغيرة، وله عالمه الذي يحفر فيه بهدوء وأناة، وهذا ما سيتضح للقارئ عندما يركز جيداً في المقاطع التي اختيرت من كل شاعر. لكن يبقى قاسم مشترك واحد، على الأقل، بين جميع شعراء هذه المنطقة، هو طغيان نبرة من الرصانة والهدوء، والابتعاد عن الضجيج اللغوي.
