الكتاب هو الثاني في سلسلة أساسيات الفيزياء، وهو يبحث في ثلاثة مجالات المغناطيسية، الصوت، الضوء. جاء الكتاب ضمن ثلاثة أقسام قامت على التوالي: الصوت، كان البحث فيه في كل من الموجات الميكانيكية، ميكانيكا الموجات المستعرضة والطولية، العلاقة بين السرعة (C) لموجة مستعرضة في خيط مشدود وبين خواص الخيط الميكانيكية، العلاقة بين السرعة (C) لموجة طولية وبين خواص الوسط الميكانيكية... وغيرها واختتم القسم بمسائل على الحركة الموجبة.
وجاء القسم الثاني في المغناطيسية الذي تحدث في النقاط التالية: المجال المغناطيسي ومسائل حوله، القوى المغناطيسية المظفرة على الموصلات الكهربية، القوى المغناطيسية وعزم الازدواج المؤثر على لفّه، القوى المغناطيسية وعزم الازدواج المؤثر على ملف حلزوني، بعض التطبيقات والمسائل. ومن ثم تناول الحديث عن كيفية تولد المجال المغناطيسي بواسطة المسخنة المتحركة.
القسم الثالث تناول الضوء الطبيعي بحث في النقاط التالية: مبدأ التراكب، تداخل الموجات، تجربة يونج... مسائل... الاستقطاب، قانون بروستر، الانكسار المزدوج، منشور نيكول... نماذج من أسئلة متعددة الاختبار.
