تلفت حوله ليرى حزماً من البشر تساوم وتزايد على السعر، تأمل ما جاء لشرائه، تفقد جيوبه الخاوية إلا من عود يتسلى به في تخليل أسنانه وقت الفراغ، زفر متمتماً: كل شيء في بلادي قابل للغلاء إلا أنا. سمع آذان الظهر فتوضأ ودخل متطهراً إلا من وزر الاحتياج وقلة الحيلة،اشتكى على ملتح بدت عليه ملامح التقى من فحش الغلاء،فأخرج كتاب فتاوى يؤكد أن المواطن الصالح يتحمّل الإهانة في سبيل تقارب مستويات أرصدة القيمين عليه، وأضاف الإمام إن خبرته الشرعية كشفت له أن المواطن نمرود، ولو تحققت له الرفاهية لطالب بالمزيد بدءاً من حفظ الحقوق، مروراً بالحريات والحفاظ على المال العام،وانتهاء بتطوير الأنظمة بما فيها نظام الحكم بما ينسجم مع متطلبات القرن الحادي والعشرين !! ودون ذلك خرط القتاد. شكر الشيخ على تبصيره في أمور دينه، وقرر انتهاج الصمت العلني – بصرف النظر عما تكنه مشاعره وما يحدث به نفسه- حرصاً على وظيفته التي تؤمن له بعض كرامته وراتب محدود لا يلبي كل ضرورات الحياة! ومن باب سخريته من الذات كان ينظر لوجهه في المرآة كل صباح مردداً "يا رخيص"!!
