تشكل رواية "ضريح الأمل" نهاية ملحمة روائية لمانويل سكورزا من البيرو، وهي تضم تحت عنوان "الحرب الصامتة" خمس روايات.
ونلفت نظر القارئ إلى أن هذه الروايات، وإن كانت متكاملة مع بعضها، فكل منها تشكل وحدة روائية مستقلة ويمكن أن تُقرأ بمعزل عن الأخرى.
تقدم روايات "مانويل سكورزا" تاريخ الهنود في البيرو. وهم سكان البلاد الأصليون الذين اغتصبت أراضيهم فقاموا بانتفاضتهم الكبرى عام 1960 ضد الشركات الأمريكية الاحتكارية الكبرى. والروايات هي دفاع عن هؤلاء السكان الأصليين الذين ظلمهم التاريخ.
لقد عرف المؤلف كيف يجمع بين التاريخ والأسطورة وبين القسوة الخشنة من جهة والجزالة الناعمة من جهة أخرى، فأحد أبطال الرواية كان مشرع اليسار في انتخابات عام 1980 في حين أن "ماكا ألبورنزو" التي تشبه المجنونة شخصية أسطورية. صحيح أن أغلب الروايات تمزج بين الخيال والواقع إلا أن "مانويل سكورزا" يدفع بكل من هذين الحدين المتناقضين إلى حدوده القصوى. وهذا ما جعل الإقبال على رواياته كبيراً لدى كل الشعوب التي نُقلت إلى لغتها، وبصورة خاصة لدى أمريكا اللاتينية.
و"مانويل سكورزا" 1928-1980 مناضل اجتماعي اضطهد وسجن وعذب في بلاده، وهذا ما جعله يختار باريس سكناً له منذ العام 1970. وقد توفي في حادثة طائرة عام 1980.
