لقد أود الله تعالى في العقل طاقة كبرى، وقدرات متميزة، فإن حسن رعايته وتعهده حفظاً وتحفيزاً وتدبيراً وإدارة كان أحد مقاصد الشريعة الإسلامية الأساسية، وإحدى القدرات الراقية للعقل هي قدرة التفكير التي تشكل الأساس المتين، والقاعدة الصلبة لقدرات العقل الأخرى.
وعند التفحّص في أوضاع الناس تجد قلة منهم قد أَعطوا التفكير الإهتمام والعناية اللائقة، وتجد كذلك قلة منهم يدركون معنى ومفهوم التفكير وقدرة العقل وأنها يمكن أن تُحَسّن وتُطوَّر للوصول إلى أداء متميز وكفاءة عالية، وإدراكاً لأهمية العقل وقدراته، والتفكير عناصره وآثاره ومتعلقاته.
عمل المؤلف وكتابه هذا على صياغة أسس ومفاهيم وآليات وقوانين موضحة وناظمة للتفكير والإبداع ضمن مُسمّى (هندسة التفكير الإبداعي) مع تطبيقات عملية لذلك، ولقد جاءت الدراسة في ستة فصول ومقدمة كالتالي: الوحدة الأولى: "عوامل تشكيل العقل وهندسة التفكير"، الوحدة الثانية: "ماهية التفكير وهندسة عناصره"، الوحدة الثالثة: "آفاق التفكير وأنواعه ومستوياته"، الوحدة الرابعة: "هندسة التفكير تحسين التفكير وتطوير"، الوحدة الخامسة: "من صور الأفكار الذهنية والأفكار الإبداعية"، الوحدة السادسة: "تطبيقات عملية تمارين تحسين التفكير وتطويره"، الوحدة السابعة: "الإستنتاجات والتوصيات".
