كي يفي الموضوع حقه ويصل إلى غايته من الكتاب، يحدّد المؤلف "من هنّ سيدات البيت الطاهر، اللائي عشن تحت سقفه الأعطر، في كنف الصادق الأمين…"، بالأمهات أولاً يبدأ وهن أربعة: "آمنة بنت وهب، تلك التي ولدته، وحليمة السعدية، تلك التي أرضعته، وبركة الحبشية "أم أيمن" تلك التي حضنته، وفاطمة بنت أسد، تلك التي كفتله وربّته"، والنساء الإحدى عشرة اللواتي تزوج بهن، وسريّتان هما مارية القبطية وريحانة بنت زيد، ثم البنات الأربعة وهن، زينب الكبرى ورقية وأم كلثوم وفاطمة الزهراء، والحفيدات الثلاثة، أمامة بنت أبي العاص، وزينب بنت علي بن أبي طالب، وأم كلثوم بنت علي بن أبي طالب.
كل التفاصيل عن حياة هؤلاء النسوة، وعن العلاقة التي ربطتهن بالنبي صلى الله عليه وسلّم، يجدها القارئ في هذا الكتاب المدروس بعناية والمنظّم بطريقة تسّهل على القارئ الوصول إلى إي معلومة يريدها، وإلى أي تفصيل يبغيه.
يبدأ الكاتب من زواج "الوالدة"، "وحملها بسيد الأمة"، وسرد معاناتها، وينتهي بالأحداث التي طبعت حياة آخر الحفيدات. ويفصّل نسب كل زوجة من الزوجات وقصة زواجها، وصفاتها وتفاصيل طريقتها بالتعامل مع الآخرين ومع الزوجات الأخريات، ودورها وطبيعة العلاقة التي كانت تربطها بالنبي، وأحداث حياتها المتزامنة مع السيرة النبوية الشريفة، وكل ما جرى لها إلى حين وفاتها.
كذلك بالنسبة للبنات والحفيدات، اعتمد الكاتب نفس المنهجية في حديثه عنهن، من إسلامهن، إلى ما يميز كل منهن من صفات شخصية، وعلاقتهن بالنبي، وقصص زواجهن، ومن ثم الحديث عن أزواجهن.
يحصل القارئ في هذا الكتاب الغني بمعلوماته، والدقيق بتفاصيله، والواضح في أسلوبه ومنهجه، على المعرفة الشاملة عن حياة وصفات كل النساء اللواتي أحطن بالنبي صلى الله عليه وسلّم، واللواتي شكلن "نساء أهل البيت".
