"إبتسامة بطيئة مثلاً"، إضافة شعرية، ثيماتها متشعبة، وفضاءها مأهول بالخراب الوجودي، حيث كل تفصيل فيه متعلق بالتفاصيل الأخرى من الصرصار الذي "يمر قرب علبة السكر، إلى مرآة السيارة التي "نلمح فيها شبهنا"، مروراً بقطعة كرتون مطوية تُسند رجل الطاولة".
كل هذه التفاصيل اليومية يصورها الشاعر ويدخلها في سياق قصائده لا كحشو دلالي، بل كعناصر قائمة بذاتها في قاموسه الشعري، المفتوح على كل احتمالات الوحدة والإستلاب والألم.
جاءت قصائد الكتاب، تعبيراً عن الرفض والإحتجاج فكراً وسلوكاً، يفتتحها بـ "يد تلوح من الشرفة / والجنازة تسير / من يختنق حزناً / ويهوي / تسنده الأيدي / إلى نهاية المشهد". ذلك المشهد الدموي الذي عاشته بلاده في الأمس القريب، فبدا "إيلي عبدو" كما لو أنه يكتب صرخته، وخوفه، ولوعته، يكتب التجربة الحارقة المحفوفة بالخطر والألم .. "نسمع دوي الطلقات وحياة تمر كأسراب القتلى" وعلى هذا المنوال ينسج الشاعر قصائده الـ (24) بعناوين مختلفة نذكر منها: "موطىء قدم" ، "أخطاؤك تحترم مواعيدها" ، "الجسد المتأخر" ، "غميضة" ، "مناسبة تتردد في القدوم" ، "ثقب إبرة" ... الخ.
