لقد كثرت المناهج والإتجاهات التي تتعامل مع النصّ الأدبي عموماً، والنصّ الشعري على وجه الخصوص - على حد تعبير الناقد محمد عبد المطلب.
ومع هذه الكثرة ظهرت بعض ألوان التعامل في صورة غريبة بإعتمادها على أدوات أو إجراءات نقدية تتنافر مع النص؛ ومن هنا نلحظ أن عملية الكشف عن الدلالة تتحول إلى عملية تغطية، أكثر من كونها كشفاً أو إيضاحاً، حيث يتحول النص إلى مجموعة من المقولات الغامضة والأحاجي المستعصية، على معنى أن المتلقي يقرأ النص أحياناً فيستوعب كثيراً من جوانبه، ثم ينتقل إلى قراءة التحليل، فيستغلق عليه التحليل والنص معاً.
وليس معنى هذا رفض هذه الإتجاهات، وإنما معناه أن نحاول الإفادة منها بما يلائم نصوصنا الشعرية، ولعلّ أهم ما يمكن الإفادة منه في هذا المجال هو الأساس الأسلوبي الذي انطلقت منه دراستنا الأسلوبية لظاهرة التكرار، إذ هو في مجمله أساس لغوي يجعل همّه جسد النص صياغة وتركيباً، مبتعداً عن كل العوامل التي تحيط به، أو تحيط بصاحبه.
ومن هنا، ارتأينا أن ندرس ظاهرة التكرار بمنظور أسلوبي، نظراً إلى أهمية هذه الظاهرة في لغة الشعر العربي قديماً وحديثاً، وهي تعد من أهم المظاهر الأسلوبية في النص الأدبي عامة والشعري خاصة، وهذا ما جعل البلاغيين العرب القدامى ينتبهون إليها، ويدرسونها في معرض تناولهم لمختلف الظواهر الأسلوبية، وفي مقدمتها الظاهرة الأسلوبية القرآنية؛ والشيء نفسه نلحظه في الأسلوبية المعاصرة التي أولت هذه الظاهرة أهمية خاصة.
ومن هنا فقد جاءت هذه الدراسة عند شعراء الحداثة، لمحاولة الكشف عن هذه القوالب الفنية، لبيان أبعادها، ودلالاتها على إختلاف مواقعها، سواء كان ذلك في الحرف، أم الكلمة، أم التركيب، أم الجملة، أم النص عامة بوصفه جملة كبرى.
وقد توزع الكتاب على ثمانية فصول جاءت وفق ما يلي: الفصل الأول: "التكرار تقييم وتأصيل"، الفصل الثاني: "التكرار الإستهلالي"، الفصل الثالث: "التكرار اللزومي"، الفصل الرابع: "التكرار التقابلي"، الفصل الخامس: "التكرار التراكمي"، الفصل السادس: "التكرار النصي عند شعراء الحداثة"، الفصل السابع: "التكرار الإيقاعي عند شعراء الحداثة"، الفصل الثامن: "التكرار الختامي".
