الحوار الإسلامي المسيحي هو ضرورة للمسلم وللمسيحي ليكتشف الأرضية الإيمانية والقيمة الأخلاقية التي يشتركان فيها معاً وان تمايزا في خصوصيات إيمانهما وفهمهما الكوني. وهذا الكتاب هو ثمرة تجربة غنية وخبرة طويلة للدكتور سعود المولى في ملتقيات ومنتديات الحوار أثار من خلالها نقاشات داخل الوسط الإسلامي، وهدف عبرها إلى إلقاء الضوء وإنارة زوايا معتمة في موضوع الحوار الإسلامي المسيحي الذي أخذ يحتل مساحة أساسية في الفكر الإسلامي وفي ممارسات وحياة المسلم اليومية.
إن التحديات والأخطار الناجمة عن النظام العالمي الجديد وتداعيات حربي الخليج الأولى والثانية، والحروب المقيمة بين ظهرانينا، والتحديات والأخطار الناجمة عن مشروع السلم الأميركي-الإسرائيلي، وما رافق ويرافق ذلك من توترات وشحن للنزاعات، ومن عنف وانفجارات (اليمن، مصر، الجزائر، البوسنة والهرسك، أفغانستان، الخ)، إن ذلك كله طرح ويطرح أسئلة وإشكاليات، وأثار ويثير قضايا وصراعات يتوجب اليوم امتلاك الجرأة على اقتحامها والشجاعة في الحوار حولها من أجل إعادة تأسيس مشروع حضاري وتشكيل خطاب سياسي وتعبوي توحيدي، على المستوى المحلي كما على المستوى العربي والإسلامي. وهذا الأمر يتطلب ربط الحوار وعناوينه وموضوعاته بأفق نظري وبنظام فقهي-منهجي يستند إلى العقيدة والتراث ويتحرك في الفكر والممارسة، فلا يعود مجرد ثرثرة مثقفين أو إعلان نيات أو ألاعيب سياسيين. إن ما نريده هو حوار الحياة، من أجل الحياة.
