يدور موضوع الكتاب حول مشكلات الطفل السلوكية، والمشكلة السلوكية هي الحالة التي يفشل فيها الفرد من أن يحقق التكيف بين عناصر ذاته المختلفة، وكذلك بينه وبين مجتمعه الذي يعيش فيه.
وللطريقة التي يتربى بها الطفل في سنواته الأولى دور مهم في توافقه النفسي وهناك رأي يقول "لا يوجد طفل مضطرب بل توجد أسرة مضطربة". إن هذا الرأي يكاد يكون جانباً كبيراً أو مهماً من الحقيقة إلا أنه من الممكن تداخل العوامل المؤثرة على سلوك الطفل وتعددها من إجتماعية وفسيولوجية وأساليب للتنشئة وتفاعل بين اي منها.
لذلك يسعى هذا الكتاب إلى بيان أهم المشكلات والإضطرابات التي تحدث في مرحلة الطفولة. كذلك المشكلات المعاصرة التي يمكن أن يتعرض لها من جراء التقنيات الحديثة.
