أما البحث فقد وقع في فصلين، أحدهما: نظري، والآخر عملي (تطبيقي)، حتى تكتمل صورة البحث في نظرنا، فكلاهما مطلب أساسي، فالتنظير - كما يقولون - ضروري لتحقق الأساس العلمي، حيث تستكمل الأسس والمعايير الفنية للجوانب النظرية في ضوء سياقاتها التراثية والمعاصرة، لتتشكل الأصول التي تسمح بمعالجة النصوص؛ أما الجانب الثاني (التطبيقي) فهو يعين المتلقي على إدراك الرؤية الداخلية لنظام النص وجلاء قوته التعبيرية، وهو التربة الخصبة التي تضمن لهذا البحث النظري نماءه وحيويته وفاعليته.
وبذلك يمكن أن تحقق هذه المحاولة شيئاً من التكامل بين جانبيها، النظري والتطبيقي، علها تفتح المجال لمحاولات أخرى تغني هذا التوجه الذي يصل النحو بالبلاغة.
