يضم الكتاب عدد من المقالات التي تربط بين التراث والسياسة، ومقالات أخرى تربط ما بين التراث والدين، وكذلك يضم مجموعة من المقالات التي تربط ما بين التراث من جهة والإجتماع والإقتصاد والفلسفة والجغرافيا وغير ذلك من العلوم والفنون الإجتماعية والإنسانية من جهة أخرى، وقد حاولت من خلال طرحي لتلك الموضوعات تحديداً أن أبرز الكيفية التي تشكلت وتكونت بها حكاوي وقصص التراث القديم، وكيف أن ذلك الإرث العظيم من المعارف الفكرية قد ظهر من خلال سياق تاريخي بشري، تعلم فيه الإنسان من أخطائه وتجاربه، فاستخدم خاصية التراكم الفكري والمعرفي التي أُختص بها دوناً عن باقي المخلوقات، فكان في ذلك السبيل لإقامة وتشييد الحضارات البشرية الكبرى، والتي تقف الحضارة الإسلامية في الطليعة منها.
كما أنه لا بد أن ننوه أن هذه الموضوعات لا يُقصد بها أن تكون وسيلة من وسائل الجدل والمناظرة المذهبية أو الطائفية، كما أنها تبتغي هدم موروثات فكرية أصيلة في البناء العقائدي الجمعي في اللاوعي المستقر في مخيلات وعقول المسلمين والعرب، وهو الأمر الذي قد يتبادر إلى الأذهان للوهلة الأولى؛ ولكن الهدف الرئيس من تلك المقالات هو محاولة توسعة الأفهام ومدها إلى آفاق رحبة بعيدة الشطآن، بحيث تُتاح الفرصة للتعرف على الآخر الفكري والمذهبي والديني دون اللجوء للتفسيرات التآمرية الضيقة والمعيبة، ودون الوقوع في أخطاء التنميط والتعميم، وهي أخطاء وقع فيها العقل البشري الجمعي منذ قديم الأزل ولا يزال يقع فيها حتى لحظة كتابة تلك السطور.
