لواء أركان حرب / محمد عبد اللاه، هو قائد عسكري مصري، يشغل حالياً منصب أمين عام وزارة الدفاع، وشغل سابقاً منصب قائد منطقة شرق القناة ومكافحة الإرهاب، ومنصب قائد الجيش الثالث الميداني. من مواليد 2 مارس 1958 بمحافظة الإسكندرية، تخرج في الدفعة 72 حربية من الكلية الحربية، وحاصل على جميع الفرق الحتمية بسلاح المدرعات، وكان ترتيبه الأول بامتياز، كما حصل على دورة المدرعات الأساسية من الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية، ودورة قائد سرايا دبابات من ألمانيا، وعلى ماجستير العلوم العسكرية من كلية القادة والأركان، وزمالة كلية الحرب العليا من أكاديمية ناصر العسكرية العليا.، إلى جانب حصوله على بعثة كلية القادة والأركان الأمريكية نظرا لتوفقه الدراسى.

هذا الكتاب هو محاولة لرصد معتقدات المصريين التي خرجت من رحم الأساطير والخرافات وأصبحت جزءًا من التدين الشعبي.. كما يحاول الكتاب أن يرصد أغرب المعتقدات المرتبطة بالجن والعفاريت وأصول هذه المعتقدات.. ويعجب المرء من هذه الحالة المصرية الفريدة التي استطاعت فيها الأفكار والمعتقدات السحرية الشعبية أن تصمد كل هذا التاريخ وتظل على مصريتها.. رغم مرور آلاف السنين.. وتغير الأديان على هذا البلد.. إلا أن هذه المعتقدات ذابت مع طقوس الدين لتصبح جزءاً لا يتجزأ من العقيدة المصرية.
لقد سيطرت عقيدة السحر على المصريين القدماء كسيطرة العقائد الدينية نفسها فكانوا يستعينون به في شئونهم الدينية والدنيوية معًا كما كانوا يستعينون في مختلف أحوال حياتهم. وقد مارس المصريون جميع أنواع السحر بمختلف صوره كما عرفها العالم القديم أو المتداول منه حتى الآن، ولا ننسى أن فكرة الشمامة التي تأتي ليلًا لتؤذي الأطفال الذين تهمل أمهاتهم في نظافتهم هي فكرة فرعونية وكذلك المعالج الروحاني.. والزار وأم الصبيان وكذلك العلاج بالأعشاب والرقي.
