إن شعر محمد مهدي جاء ليقول أن دور الشعر لم ينته، وفن الشعر ضروري وحيوي في مخاطبة الوجدان العربي، بعد أن أصبح الساسة والقادة في واد وجموع شعوب الأمة العربية في واد آخر. وأما ما يحاك من خيوط تسويات فهو من باب أضغاث أحلام، ولكن شهرزاد السهر والحكايات والإبداع لن تستسلم لشهريار الخدر والفسق والفجور.
