يعدّ مفهوم التربية المهنية من المفاهيم الحديثة في نظام التعليم الحديث، والواقع يُثبت أن نظام التعليم في مجتمعاتنا في أمسّ الحاجة إلى توفير التربية المهنية للتلاميذ أصحاب صعوبات التعليم.
ولقد وجدت الباحثة من خلال عملها معلمة صعوبات تعلّم - أنّه يتم الاهتمام بتعليم هذه الفئة من التلاميذ الجانب الأكاديمي من الخطّة التربوية الفردية فحسب، ولايتمّ تدريب هؤلاء التلاميذ على مهمّة ما لضمان استقلالية لهم في حياتهم المستقبلية، مع أنّ التربية المهنية تحقق الاستقلال الأمثل لقدرات ذوي صعوبات التعلم الجسمية أو الذهنية، ليتمكن من المساهمة الفعّالة مع غيره من الأفراد في تطور المجتمع.
يقدّم هذا الكتاب مفهوم التربية المهنية، وكيفية تقديمها للتلاميذ ذوي صعوبات التعلم، بما يساهم في توعية المجتمع بأهميّة التربية المهنية لذوي صعوبات التعلّم، ويعود بالفوائد المختلفة على المجتمع والأفراد.
