الفلوجة بلدة عربية تغفو هادئة على ضفاف الفرات الخالد، سميت بأسماء متعددة وتغيرت هذه التسميات مرات عدة، فقد مرت من أرضها الجيوش والحملات ومن موضعها سارت القوافل ومشى الركبان، وفوق أديمها استوطن الإنسان منذ فجر التاريخ فبنى المدن وعمر القرى ولا تزال تضم آثار تلك المشاهد وكذلك عاشت هذه المدينة فترة من الزمن عاصمة لدولة بني العباس في أيام خليفتهم الأول أبي العباس السفاح وهي الأنبار ذات التاريخ الخالد والمجد التالد فازدهرت ونمت ثم قصدها الناس ليعيشوا في رحابها وأجوائها وبعد ذلك عفا عليها الدهر فانضوت وتهدمت ثم بقيت في بطور التاريخ محفوظة مجللة.
في هذا الكتاب المتواضع وددت فيه بشوق أن أكتب عن الفلوجة حيث جذورنا ومحط ركاب آبائنا وموطن أجدادنا ولها حق علينا أن نستخرج جواهرها من بطون المصادر التي دونت عنها مل طارف وتليد ففيه يجد القارئ العزيز ما يكفيه ويغنيه عن المطولات حيث اختصرت له مشاق البحث وصعوبة التدوين كما كان إلى جانب تلك المصادر المقابلات الشخصية التي أجريتها مع أهالي الفلوجة، وخاصة مع المعمرين الذين انتقل بعضهم إلى رحمة الله تعالى، والآخرين الذين ما زالوا أحياءاً ويحتفظون بذاكرتهم الحية، والذين كانوا خير عون لي في الحصول على الكثير من المعلومات التي لم أتمكن من الحصول عليها من المصادر التاريخية خاصة تلك التي تتعلق بنشأة المدينة الأولى وتطوراتها الاجتماعية والاقتصادية.
