"قد تلاقت عيناك وعيناي، عند تدفق اللدن أيناً، ومثول الآن أواناً أبحرت في أعماق عينيك الملونتين بالسحر... واستحالت عيناي كأسين يرشفهما عاشقان في حانة، نصب خلف رف الجفون مفحمة بشميم ندك المحترق وجداً ولهفةً على الحبيب... أي معنى تمثل في عينيك هاتين، فتولتهما عيناي وخبأتاهما في سواديهما كما وردة حمراء خبئت في ديوان شعر تغزلت قوافيه".
تحتوي هذه المجموعة شعراً في الحب، حب القلب وحب الجوارح على السواء، ولكنها لا تتناول ذلك النوع مما يدعوه بعضهم حباً وهو في حقيقته قائم على رغبة الامتلاك وإشباع الشهوة واتخاذ الطرف الآخر أو الأطراف الأخرى أداة لإرواء الأنا، ذلك ليس بالحب المقصود هنا، وليس بالتالي موضوعاً لهذه المجموعة فالحب، وإن كان بعضه يقوم على الهوى ولا يتنكر كلياً للأنانية، يسعى إلى التخلص من الأنا إلى أن يتعداها، في أسمى مجاليه، ويتوجه إلى الجمال، أو قل يتوجه في الجمال، توجهاً كلياً دون أن تكون للحب أية غاية إلا المحبوب. وبذلك "يتفاعل" حب المحب بحب المحبوب فيحدث بالتقاء الحبيبين حب يتعدى الحب الإنساني العملي المحدود إلى حب ناسوتي كوني يلج به حب المحب في حب المحبوب فيتماهى به.
