يضم هذا الكتاب ثلاثين فصلا, يتناول الفصل الأول منها مدخلا لغويا لفهم معنى الأمثال, و يبين الأمثال القرآنية بشكل خاص و فوائد ضرب الأمثال بشكل عام. أما الفصل الأخير فقد كان خاصا بذكر الأحاديث النبوية الشريفة التي استعمل فيها النبي أسلوب ضرب الأمثال لتعليم الناس تخلقا بهدي الله تعالى في كتابه الكريم و إثباتا لما في ضرب الأمثال من فائدة عظيمة لا يمكن الحصول على ثمرتها إلا بضرب الأمثال. و أما باقي الفصول فشرح في كل فصل أمثال سورة قرآنية واحدة مرتبة حسب ترتيبها في القرآن الكريم سورة البقرة ثم آل عمران ثم ...... و قد تكون السورة الواحدة محتوية على أكثر من مثل واحد, و قد لا تكون محتوية على اي مثل فلا نستغرب عدم ذكر بعض السور. إن عدد السور المشروحة في الكتاب قرابة اثنين و خمسين مثلا تناولت جميع نواحي الحياة, و هدف الإنسان من هذه الحياة, و لفت الإنتباه إلى حقائق الأشياء بالتمثيل ليفقهها كل الناس بغض النظر عن مستوى قدرتهم العقلية فلا يبقى لأحد حجة يوم القيامة. و سيجد القارئ من خلال هذه الأمثال المشروحة مصداق قوله تعالى: ( و لقد صرفنا في هذا القرآن من كل مثل و كان الإنسان أكثر شيء جدلا ) و ما يقدمه هذا الكتاب هو غيض من فيض .. قطرة من بحر ما تنطوي عليه معاني الأمثال القرآنية .
