يبدأ هذا الكتاب بلمحة تاريخية عن صناعة الصابون, ثم يستعرض المواد الأولية اللازمة وطرق تحضيرها ومصادر وجودها وخواصها الفيزيائية والكيميائية وتركيبها. ثم يذكر مبدأ الفاعلية السطحية وخواصها التنظيفية. ثم آلية التصبن. وبعد ذلك يستعرض طرق صناعة الصابون حسب الطرق التقليدية القديمة وطرق التصنيع الحديثة والمستمرة. وطرق تحضير الصابون في المنزل وكيف نحول المواد الدسمة المتخلفة عن الطعام وغيره في البيت إلى صابون بدلاً من إتلافها بدون فائدة. ثم يستعرض صناعة المنظفات الحديثة وتركيبها وخواصها وفوائدها وميزاتها وخاصة المساحيق المنظفة للجلي وللغسالات العادية والآلية برغوة أو بدون رغوة وكذلك صناعة السوائل والمعاجين المنظفة ويتعرض لصناعة الشامبو وغيره من المنظفات الصناعية المستعملة في الاستحمام للإنسان. ويتميز الكتاب بالتبسيط والتيسير أكثر ليستطيع أن يستوعب القراء على كافة مستوياتهم العلمية.
