المرايا هي أنا. قرينتي التي ترافقني في نهاراتي وليالي. تلك التي أمرّ بها مرات ومرات. في غرفة علي وسميرة، وفي غرفة الجلوس، وفي الحمام. في الخزانة التي في غرفة نومي، التي أفتح درفتيها وأراني في أمدية مرآتيها عن يميني وشمالي. المرايا أنا. قرينتي التي تعكسني أمامي فأتراءى لي أمضغ أنفاسي على عجل. حين أغسل وجهي وأطيل التحديق إليه. مع احتساء القهوة قبل انبلاج الفجر، ومع خروجي من عند يوسف إلى غرفة الجلوس. حين أستحم وأترك للمنشفة أن تلتقط رذاذ المياه عن جسدي المبلل، وأراني خلف زغب الرطوبة التي تكسو المرآة مثل حجاب. أمسحها بيد ضربها الارتجاف منذ زمن، حتى ينكشف لي وجهي. وجهي الذي أتبينه اليوم على هيئة شرفة أقفلت ببلور سميك وأدكن ولم تعد تفضي سوى إلى نفسها. زهور الحنايا ذبلت. لا ياسمين سينبت في منتهى العينين. تينك العينين اللتين غارتا كأنهما غرقتا في بحر من السنين، وانتفخ جفناهما السفليان حتى ضغطا على أهدابي. التجاعيد تتعرج وتسير في وجهي وتتبعثر مثل زحمة من الممرات. هذه ممرات العمر، أقول في نفسي، وتنكمش حنجرتي وأبتلع رضابي بصعوبة وأشعر بها تغص بكل بكاء الدنيا. أنا بكاءة. بكاءة ودمعي حاضر وسخي. لست أبكي للبكاء فحسب، وأظن أني عندما أفعل ذلك فإني أجود ببكائي على نفسي. الناس يبكون أنفسهم. اللحظة في تفاصيلها قد لا تكون تستأهل البكاء لكني أستدعيه. فالبكاء وحده قد يمنح تلك التفاصيل التي تشتعل بها اللحظة، معنى وتشيع الشعور الذي أريد في من حولي. لكن بكائي، في غالب الأحيان، يستحيل غماً خالصاً وينشر الضيق في نفس من يكون قبالتي. أشعر بتبرمه وأمسح دموعي على عجل لكني لا أبتسم ولا أستضحك. هكذا أظل متلبسة بوجه البكاءة. يغيب الدمع ولا يغيب وجه البكاء. نظمية تقول لي أنت تكثرين البكاء. البكاء مثل الدم، لا يسيل إلّا من جرح. تحثني على التقطر في البكاء. أزمّ شفتي وأسكت. أنظر إليها بعينين حائرتين ولا أقول لها إني أبكي من نزف جروحي المفتوحة.
