يقولون إِنَّ شقيقتي بغداد بُنِيَتْ مُدَوَّرة غرب نهر دجلة، لكن شكلي يختلف؛ بُنِيت بشكل طُوليٍّ ، وتَبَوَّأْتُ جهةً أخرى من نهر دجلة ؛ بغداد غربه و أنا شرقه ، أبي وأبوها نهر دجلة ، وإن احْتَضَنَنَا من جهتين مختلفتين. سَأَحْكِي لكم كيف وُلِدْتُ أنا، وكيف كبرت هي.. حكايتي وبعض حكايتها، أُنُوثَتِي وأنوثتها، مَعَارِكِي ومعاركها، قد لا أكون مَرَّةً أخرى ، ذاك قدري أن أكون مرة وَاحِدَةً. كما كان المعتصم ـ تَمَامًا ـ مرة وَاحِدَةً."
