نظراً لافتقار المكتبة العربية للكتب والدراسات التي تعنى بالمسرح التعليمي جاء هذا الكتاب ليتناول الأسس التي يقوم عليها هذا النوع من المسرح لجهة شروط الكتابة وموضوعاتها والنماذج التطبيقية التي يمكن للطالب أن يستفيد منها عن طريق تطبيقها على خشبة المسرح المدرسي.
ويتألف هذا الكتاب من قسمين: الأول: ويتناول شروط الكتابة وموضوعاتها، وفيه شرح يتعلق بالقدرة الإبداعية للكاتب والمهارات الفطرية والمكتسبة الواجب توفرها له لجهة الموهبة والخبرات الحياتية ودور العلم في صقل الموهبة لديه كما يتناول فكرة المسرحية التعليمية من أين تأتي؟.
والأهداف التعليمية للمسرح التعليمي والموضوعات الممكن تقديمها للتلامذة والطلاب، كذلك العمل المسرحي الذي يتناسب وقدراتهم وشروط الحوار والشخصيات ونوع الحبكة والسيناريو والاقتباس. أما القسم الثاني: فيتناول نموذجين للتطبيق هما: "الكلسترول يعترق" وهو نموذج يغني الطالب بمعلومات تساعده على تجنب كل ما يضر بصحته الجسدية. ونموذج آخر تحت عنوان "عودة الثقة" وفيه دعوة للتلميذ المشاهد إلى ضرورة مساعدة الآخرين واكتساب قيم معنوية تدخل في إطار عملية التنشئة له.
