يأتي هذا النص نتيجة لعمل المؤلف "دان سبيربر" في أوكسفورد، في معهد نافيلد وفي معهد علم الإناسة الاجتماعي، بين عامي 1963 و1965، وواصله منذئذ في باريس، في إطار "المركز الوطني للأبحاث الاجتماعية (C.N.R.S)، وفريق الباحثين في علم الإناسة وعلم الاجتماع السياسي الذي يديره جورج بالأندييه.
فالنص المدرج في هذا الكتاب، يتناول من وجهة نظر خاصة، بعض المظاهر المحددة من آثاره العلمية، آثاره التي لا مقدمة إليها إلا اختصاص عالم الإناسة.
إن موضوع عالم الإناسة البنيوي، مثل كل عالم إناسة، هو شتى الظاهرات الإنسانية، وهو يقف الجزء الأساسي من عمله على وضع جردة بها. ولكن هناك منهجاً جديداً يتيح له، فوق ذلك، أن يكون عمله امتداداً لاهتمام الكلاسيكيين بشمولية الطبيعة البشرية. ولسوف ينصل اهتمامه هنا على المظهر المزدوج الآنف الذكر.
وما سيحاول قوله هو ما توجبه البنيوية بخصوص الإنسان والمجتمع. وإنما يعني بالإيجاب فرضية مؤسسة ومبينة بحيث يمكن مجابهتها ببراهين مضادة وبالتالي يمكن، إذا لزم الأمر، دحضها: فالإيجاب تحييد أي استبعاد.
ولنقل بادئ ذي بدء إن السؤال الذي حاول هنا أن يجيب عنه، ليس عادة سؤال القائلين بالنبوية. فعلم الإناسة البنيوي هو مجموعة أبحاث جارية، أكثر منه نظرية قائمة بحد ذاتها. وإن جدارته الأقل تعرضاً للشك هي أنه وسع بطريقة منهجية مجال الإطراد، مكتفياً، في سبيل ذلك، بأسس مؤقتة ونتائج لم تزل ضمنية إلى حد بعيد.
إذا عرفنا البنيوية على أنها نظرية بقدر ما هي منهج وأكثر، فإننا ننحرف بذلك عن تأويل كلود ليفي-شتراوس بالذات، والذي انطلقت منه أغلبية السجالات.
وبعد أن أثبت نعوم تشومسكي أن البنيوية في مجال الألسنية هي نظرية خاصة، وخاطئة، وليست منهجاً علمياً، يجدر بنا أن نتساءل عما إذا كنا في علم الأناسة كذلك، أمام نظرية خاطئة، أو مصيبة، هذه المسألة فقط هي التي نريد على المستوى الذي وصلت إليه الأبحاث، أن نطرحها هناك على البنيوي، وناقده، وقارئه.
