يشكّل هذا الكتاب دعوة إلى (العفة) من خلال الكشف عن "أساليبها في القرآن الكريم" ودعوة سيد الأمة محمداً صلى الله عليه وسلم التي نقلت المرأة من حال إلى حال، لذلك يتتبع الكتاب وضع المرأة قبل الإسلام "كانت المرأة سلعة تُباع وتُشترى، يُتشاءم منها وتُزدرى، تُباع كالبهيمة والمتاع، تُكره على الزواج والبغاء، تورث ولا ترث ... وكانت الجاهلية تبيح للوالد بيع إبنته، بل له حق قتلها ووأدها في مهدها ..". أما بعد الإسلام فإذا بالرسول يقول في خطته الشهيرة "إستوصوا بالنساء خيراً فإنهن عندكم غَوانٍ يعني أسيرات".
يوضح الكتاب كيف ساوى الإسلام بين المرأة والرجل بالإستناد إلى آيات بينات وأحاديث شريفة بلغت (28) دليلاً وبرهاناً على أن الإسلام هو المحرر الحقيقي لعبودية المرأة، ولذلك طالبها بالعفة كما طالب الرجل بذلك وبيّن الآثام الإيجابية للسلوك الحسن.
وفي هذا الإطار يعدد الكتاب أهم التحديات أمام عفاف المرأة المسلمة في عصرنا ومنها "الغناء" ، و"الإعلام الهابط" ، و "الإختلاط" ، و "التبرج" ، كما يناقش الكتاب شبهات حول عفاف المرأة المسلمة ومنها "الحجاب تزمت والدين يسر" ، "الحجاب من عادات الجاهلية فهو تخلف ورجعية" ، "الحجاب وسيلة لإخفاء الشخصية" ، ودعوة تفيد بأن حجاب النساء لم يكن له وجود في الجزيرة العربية ولا غيرها قبل الدعوة المحمدية، ويجيب الكتاب على ذلك من كلام العلماء والكتب المقدسة والأدلة الشرعية ويوضح الموقف من تلك الشبهات ...
وأخيراً توصيات بالعفة ورسائل إلى البنت المسلمة والأم المسلمة والمجتمع المسلم وإلى مؤسسات الدول كافة وإلى الجامعات والمعاهد والمدارس الإسلامية وإلى طلبة العلم لإقامة مجتمع مسلم على قاعدة الإيمان الصحيح.
