عندما أصبت بسرطان الثدي حرصت على أن يعرف أبنائي بمرضي مباشرة ويدركوا أن هذا ابتلاء من الله ورسالة حتى يعطينا الأجر والثواب. لقد عرفت بمرضي في شهر إبريل عام 2006م ومنذ ذلك اليوم أصبحت رسالتي في الحياة هي توعية الناس بهذا المرض وتشجيعهم على الخروج من دائرة الصمت وتشجيعهم على الفحص المبكر.
وجدت في معاناتي صديقة تساندني دائماً وتحتضنني وتقبلني فأشعر بالحب والرضا، هذه الصديقة هي ابنتي "إسراء" فاجأتني إسراء بإبداعاتها في مجال التوعية بالسرطان بأعمال فنية ومساعدتي في التحضير لبرامج التوعية وكان أهم إبداعاتها هذه القصة التي كتبتها بنفسها وهي ابنة 10 سنوات تحكي فيها بساطة عن مشاعرها أثناء رحلتها معي في مرضي.
