لقد كان الإمام زيد الشهيد رحمه الله في منتهى الفصاحة والبلاغة والخطابة والزّهادة، ومن أبرز شخصيات آل بيت النبيّ - عليه ألف ألف تحيّة وسلام - وكانت قد اجتمعت في شخصيته علوم تقصر عنها النفوس، كان واسع الثقافة، عالماً بالقرآن، والسنّة، والفقه، والعقائد، وأصول الدين، واللغة، والآداب وعلومها، حتى شهد له كلٌّ بالعمل والتفوق، وقد كان وثيقة الصلة بالقرآن، فنال حظّاً وافراً منه، وكان متفوقاً في قراءة القرآن وتلاوته.
هذا وقد قام مؤلف كتابنا هذا بجمع قراءة زيد بن علي رضي الله عنهما من الكتب التفسيرية والقرائية، فقد جرد أولاً قراءة الإمام زيد من "البحر المحيط" ثم قام بالإستزادة والتوكيد من كتب التفسير الأخرى؛ كما استفاد من كتب القراءات واللغة.
كما بذل جهداً في تحقيق الأعلام الذين وافقت قراءتهم قراءة الإمام زيد رحمه الله، وقام بالبحث عن التوجيهات اللغوية والصرفية والنحوية لتلك الكلمات والتراكيب التي وردت في قراءته، ومن ثم وضّح وعلّق على تلك القراءة.
