في روايته "الإخوة كرامازوف" إثبات كبير لاستشعاره الخطر الذي أحدق ببلاده وترجمته الثورة الشيوعية، وإعلان إيمانه الكبير بأنه سوف تنتصر على محنتها، بفضل مسيحيتها وعلى يد شعبها، وبأن الخلاص في أزمنة الرب سيأتي في النهاية من الشرق.
يقول دوستويفسكي ذلك على لسان الناسك الشيخ زوسيما، في المجلد الأول من روايته، ويضمن كلام الشيخ جملة من آرائه في الإيمان المسيحي، تقارب إلى حد كبير آراء الناسك الشيخ ساروفيم ساروف الذي تقدمه على دروب القداسة.
فالروائي الكبير اعتمد مرجعين أساسيين يستمد منهما مواد مؤلفاته: الشعب الروسي، ورهباته القديسين.
كان يختلط بالناس، يستمع إليهم في حياتهم اليومية، يعاين مواقفهم في أفراحهم وأحزانهم، ويدون مشاعرهم وأفكارهم في دفتر صغير.
وكان يزور الشيوخ النساك حيثما ذاعت قداستهم، وينصت إلى تعاليمهم وينقلها في كتاباته بصيغ مختلفة.
وبين طيات هذا الكتاب ترجمة لكتاباته هذه إلى العربية، وهي بما تقدم تحمل بين جنباتها غنىً روحياً وإطلالة معبرة على روحانية الشرق التي تبدو اليوم في حاجة قصوى لأهل الإيمان والمحبة.
