يعتبر "مخائيل فرح" شاعرُ قضية الإنسان - أو الإنسان القضية - أي أنَّ الإنسان يشغل باله، وقد عرف بالشاعر الإنسان!!...
والإنسانُ منطوٍ فيه العالم الأكبر - وعالم فرح أوسعُ من "تولا" التي أحب - ومن الفيحاء التي وهبها ما وهب، ومن لبنان قصيدته الأحلى، ذلك أنَّ وجعَ طفلٍ في الصين كان وجعه... ووجع قصيدته، وأنَّ كل شعر سابحٍ في غير مجاري الإنسان وشرايينه، عمره في حياة التاريخ قصيرٌ... قصير.
وحين كنا نسمع "مخائيل" على المنابر المعروفة ترأى أنَّ الرجل فتح مدرسةً في الزجل - أو الشعر المحكي - آنَ فرضه فنياً على الجمهور الوسيع جداً في المهرجانات بعينها: ذكرى أبو شبكة في "تولا" - وذكرى الشهداء والإستقلال في طرابلس - وشعر ما بعد النكسة.
وفي العشرين سنة من قبل الرحيل، مال مخائيل إلى الشعر الوطني والقومي ومناصرة الإنسان المسحوق في كل مكان وتحت كل شمس وقال كلمته قالها حرةً... ومشى...
ونضوجه الشعري بلغ درجةً عاليةً جداً في هذه المرحلة من حياته: أكيدٌ أن الرابطة الأدبية الشمالية التي كان أحد أعضائها البارزين والمتحركين جداً إبتداءً من 1967 حملته مسؤولية الكلمة هو المؤمنُ أصلاً بالأدب المسؤول؛ و"مخائيل فرح الأممي" كانت تفضحه "تولا": فأنتَ تراها في قصائده - وتسمع أجراسها - وتشم بساتينها، والحنين إلى أيام "وقف يا اسمرْ"... أو "كانتْ على شباكها تسهرْ معي"... حنين الإنسان إلى المكان الأول.
ولأهمية ديوان "مخائيل فرح" قامت لجنة برأسة "ناصيف الشمر" بجمع هذه القصائد الضائعات ورصفهن وترتيبهن ودفعهن إلى المطبعة للتصحيح.
