استحوذت ظاهرة المعيّة على عدد من الأساليب العربية التي عالجها النحاة في عدد من الأبواب النحوية، ففي حروف الجر أشار اللغويون والنحويون إلى هذه الظاهرة حيث نصوا على مجيء بعض الحروف بمعنى المعيّة وفي باب العطف قرروا أن الواو لما كانت لمطلق الجمع، أو للجمع المطلق قد التقت مع وظيفة "مع" الدالة على الجمع، ونتج عن ذلك أن الواو العاطفة قد تفيد المعية، وانسحب ذلك على الواو التي ينصب الفعل المضارع بعدها بأن المضمرة، وتوجوا ذلك كله حين أفردوا باب المفعول معه المبني على إرادة المعية أو عدمها، وقد وضعت لعربية لفظة "مع" لتكون النواة التي تبني عليها هذه الأساليب فما حقيقة هذه اللفظة؟ وكيف تناولها الدرس النحوي الذي عرف عنه كثرة نزوعه إلى الخلاف القائم على أصول نحوية معتبرة مطردة هدفه من ذلك ضبط المعاني الدقيقة التي رامتها العرب من كلامها...
