يعد التغير السريع والإنفجار المعرفي والتكنولوجي من أهم سمات القرن الحالي، والذي فيه تتضاعف المعرفة كل فترة قليلة من الزمن.

وإنطلاقاً من أهمية موضوع القيادة التربوية في جميع النظم والمؤسسات التعليمية جاء هذا الكتاب بفصوله الخمس، وعمدت في فصوله التدرج بدءاً من مفهوم القيادة والقيادة التربوية وحتى علاقة القيادة بالأخلاق بحيث تناول الفصل الأول وهو بعنوان مفهوم القيادة التربوية ويشمل: مفهوم القيادة، تطور مفهوم القيادة في العصور المختلفة، أسس القيادة، دور القيادة في العملية الإدارية، مبادئ القيادة، الفرق بين القائد والمدير، مفهوم القيادة التربوية، متطلبات القيادة التربوية، مدير المدرسة كقائد تربوي؛ الفصل الثاني وهو بعنوان نظريات القيادة ويشمل: النظريات التقليدية، النظريات السلوكية، النظريات الموقفية، النظريات الدافعية.
أما الفصل الثالث فهو بعنوان المهارات اللازمة للقيادات التربوية ويشمل المهارات الواجب توافرها في القائد وكذلك طرق اختيار وتدريب القيادات، والفصل الرابع بعنوان إتجاهات حديثة في القيادة التربوية ويشمل: القيادة التشاركية والقيادة التحويلية، والفصل الخامس والأخير بعنوان القيادة التربوية والأخلاق، ويشمل مفهوم الأخلاق وكذلك علاقة القيادة التربوية بالأخلاق.
