الإمام الحسين يمثل رمز العلم والوحدة بين المسلمين وحياته شاهدة على ذلك. فقد كان للإمام الحسين الأثر الكبير في إصلاح الأمة فقد شارك مع أبيه أمير المؤمنين رضي الله عنهما في جميع الحروب التي شنت ضد الإمام عليه رضي الله عنه فقد كان يبرز إلى ساحة القتال بنفسه كلما اقتضى الأمر وسمح له والده، وقد سجل المؤرخون خطاباً للإمام الحسين وجهه لأهل الكوفة لدى تحركهم إلى صفين، جاء فيه بعد حمد الله تعالى والثناء عليه: (يا أهل الكوفة! أنتم الأحبة الكرماء والشعار دون الدثار، جدوا في إطفاء ما دثر بينكم وتسهيل ما توعر عليكم، ألا إن الحرب شرها ذريع وطعمها فظيع، فمن أخذ لها أهبتها واستعد لها عدتها، ولم يألم كلومها قبل حلولها فذاك صاحبها، ومن عاجلها قبل أوان فرضها واستبصار سعيه فيها، فذاك قمن ألا ينفع قومه وإن يهلك نفسه، نسأل الله بقوته أن يدعمكم بالفيئة).
وهكذا هو الإمام الحسين الذي جسد الإسلام بكل معانيه ومثل جده رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم في خلقه وخلقه. نعم هذه صورة موجزة أوضحها المؤلف في عدة مواضع وحاول إظهارها في هذا الكتاب الذي جاء تحت عنوان (الإمام الحسين.. رسالة وإصلاح).
