رواية واقعية في كل حرف وجرح وانتحار، بطلتها طفلة زارت الجحيم باكراً جداً حين باعها أهلها وهي في الخامسة لتعمل خادمة في البيوت، تعرض جسدها لإهانات عنيفة وجنسية تسببت لها بإعاقات دائمة، ثم سكنتها كوابيس لا معقولة، في ظلمة الخوف واليأس نبع نور في دربها كأنه من يد العناية الإلهية، قطعت المسافة كاملة بين النقيضي، لكنها ما زالت إلى اليوم نازفة بحدّة. نصفها مشرق ومضيء بفعل ثورتها ويد الحب التي تحوطها، ونصفها الآخر يسكنه الرعب كل ليلة... إنها حياة لا توصف. و"سجن الفراشة" بعد كل هذا وذاك تراجيديا مؤثرة لا بل آسرة، لا يمكن القارئ معها أن يبدأ بالسطر الأول دون أن ينتهي بآخر كلمة من السطر الآخير.
