في هذا الكتاب مجموعة دراسات وأبحاث متعلقة بالقضاء في لبنان ودنيا العرب، كتبها المؤلف في أوقات مختلفة، وهي ثمرة للتجربة الطويلة التي عاشها في القضاء اللبناني طيلة أكثر من أربعة عقود، تدرج خلالها في المراتب القضائية حتى شغل منصب رئيس الغرفة المدنية في محكمة التمييز (النقض)، ثم أنهى عمله فيه في رآسة هيئة التفتيش القضائي وعضوية مجلس القضاء الأعلى ومكتب مجلس شورى الدولة.
حيث ساهم بكل شرف، في تأسيس محكمة النقض في إمارة أبو ظبي في الإمارات العربية المتحدة مع نفر كريم من كبار القضاة والمستشارين العرب، وكان خلالها مستشاراً في الغرفة المدنية فيها، فزاده ذلك تجربةً وغنى؛ ولقد إرتأى، بكل تواضع، أن ينشر هذه البحوث لينتفع بها القضاة اللبنانيين والعرب خاصة ولرجال القانون عامة، بل ولكل المهتمين.
وسيلاحظ القارئ الكريم أن هذه الأبحاث مسكونة بهم أساسي واحد هو إستقلال السلطة القضائية وتحصينها وتعزيز مستواها ورفع درجة أدائها، لأنها الأساس المكين لدولة القانون وللنظام الديموقراطي، ولحماية الحقوق الأساسية والحريات العامة لجميع الناس، ولأن القضاء المستقل والعالم والنزيه هو قاعدة العدالة وركنها المتين.
